  1. I have a favourite vegetable. Potato. Its so amazingly versatile, you can do anything with it. Chip it and deep fry it. Desiccate it, ship it by tanker and put it in a vending machine at service station just outside Calais, add water and fry for instant chips for only 10 francs. You can roast it in dripping, slice thinly and bake with cheese for dauphinoise. Mash it, crush it through a ricer and garnish with butter. Drench it in red wine red onion gravy. My favourite is baked in its jacket and served with lashings of salted butter and melted mature cheddar You can even power a digital clock with it. And best of all, you can grow it in 90 days and in practically any soil.

I’m also intrigued by the premise of your audio book. And in case I win, I’m in the UK. 🙂

    1. Mmmm. Who can argue with potatoes? We’re about ready to harvest our potatoes. This is our second attempt. Last year it didn’t go so great. We’ll see if we’ve improved our technique this year.

My husband is from Spain. One of my favorite dishes he makes is Tortilla Española. So tasty — and lots of potatoes.

I’m looking forward to reading more about your adventures with your allotment. 🙂

You’re my first UK listener! Here’s the link you need to get the audiobook: audible.co.uk/acx-promo

      1. I’m so glad you were able to successfully download it. I’m always prepared for the possible transatlantic tech glitch.

And speaking of potatoes, we had some for dinner from our garden last night. My husband is a much better cook than I — and he brought his food philosophy from Spain to the U.S. He whipped up a variation of a traditional Spanish countryside dish, a skillet dish of boiled potatoes, paprika, garden onion and purple Spanish garlic. For the greens, he stirred in Swiss chard and broccoli leaves from the garden. He added Portobello mushrooms and just a dash of cayenne for my American tastes. Baguettes on the side.

We still have potatoes left over, plus more to harvest. I’m lobbying for a Tortilla española.

  2. My favorite vacation is to sit on the beach in Sarasota FL……love their beaches and I find it very relaxing. We used to go there every year when I was growing up, for two weeks in July. It’s complete R &R!!!! My favorite flower is the sunflower, because they make me smile. And they are so stately, tall and confident. I would have to say that my favorite vegetable is broccoli. Love it hot or cold with some onion dip!

Would love the hardcopy version of your new book. Thanks! Lynn

    1. Sarasota is lovely. And my husband makes a tasty broccoli pesto. Sunflowers are the best. 🙂 I will send you a private note via your blog later this morning to get your address. I’m delighted to send you a hard copy of Erasing the Past.
